The first fish I have caught from a kayak.  I like it, though I need to do something to improve my picture taking.  :(

Smallmouth Bass
Date: May 2, 2010
Location: mouth of the Nashwaak River, Fredericton, NB
Lure: spinner with worm

I'm removing this, as it was caught while we had a daily limit of 0, and I photographed it myself.  I'll just have to get myself another bass.  Darn.  Shucks.  This is awful.

Fortunately the limit just went up to 2 today.  :)

9" brook trout
Date: June 12, 2010
Location: Killarney Lake, near Fredericton, NB
Lure: spinner with worm

This little guy was bleeding pretty bad when I pulled him into the boat, so he and a couple of his buddies became lunch.

As far as I know it is the only catfish we have here in New Brunswick, though I'd be delighted if I was wrong!  If anyone knows better, please let me know.

This is the first catfish I've ever caught.  Boy was I surprised when I found out what was on the other end of the line.  :)

6 1/2" Pumpkinseed
Date: July 4, 2010
Location: Mactaquac Headpond on the St. John River
Lure: gold spinner and worm

This little guy barely made the cut for the contest, but a point is a point.  Also caught some white perch that were too small.  However it was a good trip because my daughter caught her first fish in a kayak.

Hey Bob. Do you use a wire leader all the time out there?

I rarely add a wire leader.  What you see in the pics is just the basic spinner as it comes in the package.  That with a worm on it seems to be the most productive for me, so when I try some other things and nothing happens I tend to go back to this for a while.

I also fish tidal waters a lot so I sometimes just toss this out into the water and leave it there, then fish with something else (looking for pickerels, bass or whatever).

Actually I've come to the conclusion that one of my problems is that I don't try enough different things.  When something isn't getting the fish I tend to move to a different spot and continue using the same lure.  I should probably be trying different ones in hopes of finding something they do want to go after.
