Wow, Russ! That's awesome!
When it comes to what else I like to do, nothing else really comes close to kayak fishing. But in the off season (like right now) I like to tie a few flies for the next season. I also like to go snowshoeing with buddies to various locations and cook lunch on an open fire and a few wobbly pops. I probably would like ice fishing except for the fact that I have a low attention span, and I tend to get bored just sitting at the same spot. That's why I suck at deer hunting, and why I love flyfishing as I'm constantly moving about, and why kayak flyfishing is even ten times better then that! Lol! Over the winter months, I periodically go through all my fishing gear and see what I have, what's still good, what needs replacing, and what I could get next for the next fishing season. I know it's kind of nerdy, but it seems to make the hibernation season pass more quickly.

I tried watercolurs for the first time the other day, it was my first attempt at paints of any kind.  Here's the result.

Also, I tried my hand at a fish.  I must say, fish aren't my forte :)  This is my attempt at a brook trout, It is just about finished but I might add a fly to it...any recomendations on a good brook trout fly? (It may look slightly rich on your monitor, my monitor isn't calibrated yet.

Would this work for the auction?

Might do a brown next...

Russ

Russ it would definitley work.. don't worry about the colours if you want to leave it in grey scale and shading that would work great.. everyone will know what it is. What about putting a little motion in the pic.. over a cravel stream bed with some water above or coming up to a fly as yo mentioned... anything would be great.. I am so looking forward to whatever you put together. Great stuff.

Here's one I just finished, another coloured pencil creation.  Next up, rainbow trout!

Here's a drawing I did tonight, a saw-whet owl.  Canadas tiniest owl species!

Cheers,

Very nice, 12 foot. I've only heard those owls a few times--they sound like a machine --an automated phone tone--very strange. I think the barred owls pick on them out here on the island, which is the reason they are scarce.

Have only seen one of these in the wild...one of the little buggers landed on a branch over top our camp site one night on a backcountry trip...couldn't believehow small it actually was.

Great Work

Those drawings are amazing.
Winter time for me consists of playing hockey, snowboarding, ice fishing, and NFL sundays
