Ocean Kayak Prowler Trident 13 Angler
« on: October 02, 2009, 04:56:22 pm »
Pretty much the same as the 15 but in a more compact form. Same options like the Rod Pod, Sonar Shield and Transducer compatible scupper holes. Again this one comes with the rudder (angler) and without. If you are concerned about size then this one is probably more managable for you.

I had a chance to tryout this Kayak, very impressed with it, it didn't have the rod pod though so either it was an earlier model or not an angler. I'd like to add one next season.

I just picked up that Yak on Friday.  Took it for a test paddle on Sunday.  It is my 1st SOT, I enjoyed playing around in it.  I haven't paddled or tried to fish out of any other SOT so I can't compare.  Stable enough to easily get side saddle (I'm 6' and 195lb).  I was on a river, so I'm not sure on it's speed other than faster down river than up  :).  Looking for some windows of decent weather.

I've just spent my first season in one and I'm quite impressed.  Spent most of the summer rigging it and it's almost the way I like it.  HBird 383c sonar, an array of Scotty rigging, dual XShot camera mounts.  As much as I like the rod pod to carry 4-5 sticks when out junk fishing for largies, I kind of wish it wasn't there so I had more options for mounting electronics.  So that being said, the Sonar Shield is a great idea to stow your sonar when not in use but it's wayyy too far forward for any normal use.  I've got quite a stretch at 6'2" in height and I can't reach it without scooching up forward of the seat.  I find myself using my big toe to "foot-operate" my HBird, or even the tip of a fishing rod to poke at the buttons.

Here are a couple pics rigged...

and unrigged at OKFC..

Don you made "L" bracket of those Scotty extenders is it practical that way?
Can you reach camera in back or you have to sit side way to reach it?

Daniel, I've only used them a handful of time but they worked at that angle to troll.  I'll have to experiment more next year.  I wanted the rod butt up and out of the way.

I can reach back and grab the Xshot and twist it towards me, but that is going to be an HD video camera next year so hopefully I won't be having to mess with it all the time.

I like it and it still stands out for me as one of the front runners of what I would like to get if I get the opportunity to purchase another yak.
