Garmen Striker 4. Is it worth it?
« on: April 01, 2018, 05:10:00 pm »
So Costco in town has them in stock. And I'm wondering is it worth it to pick one up??
Currently I'm using a Sonar phon unit on a old iPhone.
Don't need a hevy duty map. I use the navionice app on my good phone and it's done me well.  So shuld I save up and grab the Striker4 or just save my cash and get a phon mount for my dashboard on the yack

I’d say go for the Garmin. You know you want to! 8)

I personally would spend the extra money and get a quality unit with a Navionics card. Something like the new Lowrance Hook2 5 that has sonar, down imaging, gps mapping, navionics card, sonar charts live mapping capability all for $430.

With that setup you can forget about having to carry a phone(which you will inevitably drop at some point or will get damaged during rain or waves etc). You also get better quality sonar and a bigger screen then either your current sonar phone or the Striker 4.

If you can't talk yourself into it I would consider the Striker 4 or some other cheap option as I do think they are better then relying on a phone but bang for your buck you do get a lot more from some of the next level up options.
