I wonder if that drive has some sort of impact release mechanism. In my Outback, if I see a rock or something else at the last moment when impact seems inevitable I can usually push one Mirage drive pedal to lift the fins and avoid impact but with these propeller rigs that isn't possible. The ability to back up is a huge plus, though. I'm not trying to be overly critical and I'm not a Hobie crusader either, just wondering.

They are Valid points.
From what I know there is a impact release system in place.
There are a few new ones on the market this year.
When I get more info dug up (which I'm on the hunt now) I'll be posting them.

I know Feel free and wilderness systems also have new pedal drives out this year too.

I was watching some videos on this, it said they had some sort of impact release in place as well as a spring loaded arm making it easier to pull up out of the water. Love the look of this boat. But it is also not for the faint of heart at its 2800 price tag. Mind you the features on this yak are awesome it is a great rig. I am excited to see one in person
