Paddle help!
« on: July 04, 2016, 09:19:42 am »
Hey guys,
Switched to the predator 13, and right now I am getting by with a beater paddle, looking for some input on which paddle to go with, I see bending branches seem to be solid choice but looking for some input, wouldn't want to go over 200 if I can help it but not saying I won't, I am an angler first paddler second haha i will be shopping for a 250cm paddle. Any and all advice welcome! Thanks
In advance for the help!!

Can't go wrong with any bb paddle imo
Werner also makes a great! Kayak angling paddle.
We are in fact giving one away at the end of the season for the cka yaktrip report contest.
The downfall to both bb and Werner is they are pricey.
If you are willing to drop to 230 cm then this is a great cheap paddle I have been useing it for the last 4 years. Check the link.

Get the lightest paddle you can get Noah. That boat you have now will already be a challenge to paddle given its width and weight.
I know you have a budget, and I respect that, but believe me, getting the lightest paddle you can will go a long damn way to help you with fatigue as well as overall efficiency.  I totally get you are a fisherman first, but you'll be come a better kayak angler if you are a better kayaker.  I see more people with inefficient paddling techniques that dont capitalize on a day of fishing than I care to count.  Given the width of your boat do not go any shorter than a 240cm paddle, anything smaller you'll be knocking the side of your kayak more often than not.  I will go out on a limb here and assume you also have a very flat paddling stroke.

Thanks guys! Ya I was thinking about getting a 250 cm paddle, I saw that bass pro had the classic bending beaches paddle on for 149 + tax. The other one I was thinking about was the Carlisle predator. Haha I don't even know what a flat paddling stroke is John your probably right! Hahaha

I went from a crappy $50 paddle. To a bending branches angler classic. I think the biggest i have seen is a 240. But it's a great paddle. I highly suggest you check it out.
