Sooke BC fishing derby series
« on: April 29, 2016, 12:39:01 am »
This derby has been going for a few years and this year they have a kayak category. I'm in for sure.
Hi All,

We gearing up to show the 'big boat boys' how real men - and women - really fish.
The Sooke Salt Water Series has been going a couple of years now  - targeting different species for each derby to create a fishing series - and this year we are adding a kayak element.
The next (& 1st in the series) is the Sooke Halibut derby May 28/29th.

As well as being in the regular prize pool - an additional prize will be up for grabs to the biggest caught from a kayak (or SUP technically) for each derby*. - As well as the smugness earned from the "you caught THAT from a kayak?... Naaaaa you didn't! type of comments sure to be heard at the weigh in!
*There'll be a weather/wind exemption... ie High wind forecast (15kt+) - prize withdrawn
Prize value approx $200 (+ regular entry prizes)

Plenty of spots with kayak launch-able beaches close by.

Metchosin BC
(Metchosin is a coast Salish word meaning "stinking fish")
