fish stringer or ice chest
« on: January 24, 2015, 05:06:20 pm »
what is better for saltwater fishing?
a fish stringer chain, or a Ice chest or cool bag to keep them in?
just wondering what's the better option to keep my catch when I'm out?

On the salt, id say a ice chest only because you never know what will come up and eat what you have on your stringer.

I would always use a cooler pack with ice if I'm keeping fish! Fresh or saltwater!

I also always use a cooler with ice, having the fish on a stringer seems to always get in the way while paddling and the cooler is just easier to slide the fish into if you have the storage

X2 on that. Snuffy the seal would think it's Christmas with a stringer, or worse, a 1000 lb bull sea lion decides to yank your chain.

New Member here and came across your post. Norchill Coolers makes a great marine cooler. The zippers are corrosion resistant. I use em on my yak and my skiff.

Saltwater guys have a saying, "If you have fish on a stringer, your kayak is a bobber."

lol, what they said. also  a stringer is not legal/frowned upon in some provinces.
whoever has the most fishing gear when they die wins!
