Quebec, Sleepy Hollow Kayak Bass Fishing Tournament
« on: December 14, 2014, 05:05:38 pm »
Hi,
No kayak specific events anywhere near me :-\
The solution create our own. We (my friend Scott) are on our way to creating what we our confident will be a friendly and well organized tournament. When we do something we strive to do it well, our wives would tell you we obsess :o With two sponsors on board and a couple more on the way prizes for both results and participation should be pretty exciting. Please visit our site at Que-Yak.ca for details, preliminary rules and registration. Hope to see you on the water!
Chris

sounds like fun Chris, what dates are you looking at? I get up to Quebec for a fish every couple years so may be able to make the tourney with luck.
whoever has the most fishing gear when they die wins!

Thinking of going.
It's on the Richileau river at the head of Lake Champlain.
Very rich area for fish. Might even get a bowfin, chain pickerel,
hybrid of chain pickerel and northern pike or tiger muskie ?
Of course there's lm and sm bass too.

It would be great to meet some cka members there.

Curious if there will be a discount on the camping.  ;)

If it wasn't on the same weekend at our NB Paddler's derby, I'd be very interested in going.  There are only so many weekends in the summer though!

Yeah, it's on or near opening weekend for bass, very busy time of year around
here too. Then there's the Windsor BCC the following weekend, way too much
driving for me to do both. Decisions decisions   :-\ .

If your going to make a decision based on prizes... the NB ones should be on your radar.    More info to follow, but you can check out the list of confirmed sponsors on the website.    Some are donating several hundred dollars worth of prizes.  :-)  http://nbfishingderbies.com

Of course, I'll be spreading the prize lots out across all competitors.  50 participants means 50 prizes.   Some prizes will be noticably higher end, but even the last place entry will get something worthwhile.

Personally I don't give a hoot about prizes.
It's more about experiencing new waters and meeting and sharing
tactics with other kayak anglers.
Most kayaks won at tourneys are sold as the winner already has one,
unless it's a better one. Think the prize thing is way over done, but
it is nice to get something useful for your entry fee.
But whatever works to get people out. JMHO  :)

Hey Chris.
Okay the entry fee for the tourney is $50.00 before May 1st and $60.00 after.

WHAT does the camping cost ?

Gather it's being held on Sleepy Hollow campground, we have to book sites in advance ?
I just need a bit of ground for a tent and parking, is there a "discount" field we can set up on ?
 :)

Hi Eagle Eye,
It is being held at Sleepy Hollow Campground. The campground focuses mostly on summer rentals but there are a few tent sites available. Some of the tent sites are located right next to the beach where we will set up and launch from. I apologize but I'm not sure of the cost, but I'm sure it's within the norms. Good news is that I can now confirm that we will have a brand new 2015 Predator XL in Black/Cherry camo as a participation prize. Looking forward to meeting you sir!
Chris

Hi folks,
Just got word that we will have a Pelican Strike as a participation prize in addition to the predator!
I can't wait for open water. The Internet and fishing related content can only diminish the pain so much!

We now have 3 kayaks being given away to some luck participants!
Some details...
The Pelican Strike and Predator MX are participation Prizes. Anyone that is "in" can win!
The Jackson Cruise will most likely be the first prize for the three winning bass. That is not certain, we will decide depending on the numbers we have participating. It will of course be given away regardless! The tournament will be held on the 20th of June. Check out www.que-yak.ca for details. Aside from the yaks there will be many other prizes and gift bags for those who register before May 1'st. I'm hoping we have at least a small Ontario contingent! :D Hope to see you there!
