record sized fish question
« on: April 30, 2009, 08:26:34 pm »
Is there a record class for kayaks?  I know there are different line class records and flyrod records and whatnot but what about kayak landed fish?  If there is I'd like to know where to view these records, if there isn't I propose that there should be and this site could be the home of the database since it is country-wide and incorporates all fresh and saltwater species.  Thoughts?  Opinions?

Im not aware of any real record log specific for Kayak Angling...We fall under the same class as others but in some ways we have advantages over large boats for line class records...the kayak is a drag system in itself that lessens the stress on the line and allows for smaller gear to hook the fish...
We can create a log on here for fish species if you want...Call it Canadian Kayak Angling Hall of Fame or something...That would be cool...

There are also some notable disadvantages, one of course is landing a big fish on a small tippy craft, another might be the fact that its a one person operation (ie. no net guy).  All good reasons to have a kayak specific record class or hall of fame or whatever.  Input is needed if this is gonna fly, rules and regs as well as a panel of judges or a committee at a minimum.
