out of province are welcome at the shad tourney. the capt's meeting takes place after a complementary lunch at a restaurant/hotel so that is an option ( I slept in the back of their parking lot last time...until Homebrew woke me up -  lol). they might also be able to find some where else for you to stay. Homebrew and I were planning to drive up in the morning this time, so maybe you could stay with him also.
there was also a fisher that had shad darts and flies right there for sale. I bought a bunch last time and could have used more...

By "welcome", maybe he means if they need a fishing license, as in if it's in tidal water or not. As such, I don't think it's tidal waters, so they'd need a non-resident fishing license.

That's fine, with all the license I'm buying this year what's one more ? Maybe two, salmon license is separate from non resident license? what are costs of licenses now for non residents?

Hey Flyfisher, as ipop said, 'Chez Homebrew' has a vacancy that Friday night if you want to stay a night in the Saint John area and drive to the tourney early in the AM.

I may be into a new job and if won't be looking to take time off work.   But if I am still with my current job, I could take Friday off to fish the local area with you.

salmon licence would cover for both.

I can only give you last years prices for out of province.

salmon and other species: 195.49 for full season; 113 for 7 days; 59.89 for 3 days.

no salmon but rest of legal fish (trout/shad etc.): 72.32 for season; 46.33 for 7 days; 33.90 for 3 days

most salmon waters, but not all also require a guide for out of province.

Thanks, Yes I did realize the guide thing for salmon. I have a friend that's a guide in the province and I will be with him probably after the tournament for a day or two! Might even slide into Nova Scotia and hook up with some friends from my childhood in Cape Breton!
Again thanks for the information guys!
Hope this works out now all depends on timing?

I'm looking to book time off to go up this year too! When are Halifax people like John and protecteur leaving to go up? Thursday or Friday? Anyone want to carpool/convoy, potentially?

Think I'm heading up Friday with John.  Convoy sounds good.

For the Hammond River Classic, I live right around the corner.   If you guys want to come a day or so early and tent, I can provide the yard, showers, bbq...etc.

As for bad carpoolers... can't help you there!  lol

John, is that because of the rotten squid he left in the car for 2 days?

I'm up for a convoy possibly, but I bet I'll be on the road an hour before anybody so you'll have to catch me :)

it looks like I will miss the NB Paddlers derby. it's not written in stone  but looks like I will be off with my family to Quebec for that time. What a drag, i'll miss you all, especially the help removing hooks...lol!
