A 1/4" can make a difference.
I just posted on the KW forum to get a second opinion about our
current record common carp.
You know for bragging rights.  :D

I replied there but might as well do so here too. Record and trophy fish require proof of measurement as stated in the rules. He doesn't have it so his fish should be reduced to 36 inches as that is all that can be proven.

MA's carp is on a plano board, nothing wrong there.
And a picture on the beach with a piece of kayak in it is fine.
I just don't know how long the board is fully strectched, from stop to
end 36 1/2", 37", and tail over a 1/4" ?

my first pike ever. this is where I was instead of at the nb paddlers tourney - family fishing vacation mid/northern Quebec. I'll have to look closely at the zone map but I think I was  just south of where we  mark the green zone in  Quebec. my second try there for pike, I landed these in the pouring rain and a few  smaller ones from the kayak and a much bigger one the day before from an inflatable powerboat.
funny thing, after catching all those toothy critters there, I come back and fish for pickerel the next day. first cast I notice the rod felt weird, then I hook up with a little 14" pickerel, it swims under the yak, the rod bends...and bends..and bends - I'm thinking this is a medium heavy - what's going on? and then the rod snaps in 2-!!! nasty words, I check it out and looks like it was half broke and the little pickerel took care of the rest, cutting about 6" out of the middle. I look at it and think , mayyyybe. I try the broken end into the  other section and it fits, and is even fairly snug. so I keep fishing with the rod all day - after all, what harm could I do - break it - lol. so about 2 pickerel later a fair size toothy fish comes up...and takes my gear - not even a tug - the line just goes slack -hmmm, odd. then another 3 pickerel later, other end of the lake...nice size toothy critter...and almost the same thing...??! so twice pickerel shear off line like it wasn't there and a bunch of pike didn't cut through the exact same leader (20lb floro). I think this was a case of exceptional pickerel more than dull tooth pike. either way I put on some 40lb chum leader and kept on fishing...in the rain.
whoever has the most fishing gear when they die wins!

Can't prove the length as the picture doesn't show the measurement. Longest length he can claim is the total length of plano board which is maybe 36.5". That is why it is key to have a measurement board/method big enough for large fish if you are worried about records etc.

Off to the Fraser river that weekend for some Monster Sturgeon with 3 generations of Jensens.
If I'm lucky I might get a few points upon returning on the Monday.

Good point Curtis. Goldman point only good for someone if they catch more than 2 species. I know its hard for u with limited species out west. Ive been going outta my way to get the harder species first this month rather than the easiest with the great team i have. I dont have the luxury of keeping all to myself. Otherwise my total point would easily be far greater, since already I and other team members have left points that dont count for individual stats. Today was a huge blast with learning still about catching gar pike. Managed 6 outta 20 fish . The odds are against u catching them.  Kayak Wars prizes are not much  anyways, other than the goldman prizes.

Use to think I had a sure way to hook gar, but have missed
the same one 5 times now night fishing in the last 2 weeks.
Its a good one, well longer than 42" anyways.  ;)
They are more active at night in August around here.

Yeah, details on the All-Star weekend would be nice.
It's looking windy and rainy around here sat. and sunday so
doubt camping.

Good luck with the Sturgies KC.  :)

I'm wondering if it's the same as last yr when they have a list of species nod largest 3 of those species got the gold man points. A guy could clean up if it is and he can get 3 biggest of 1 or 2 species.

I'll post some sturgeon pics even though it's not kayak related.

Hers a pic from one of my dad's recent trips.
