Trailer mod ATV- Kayak
« on: August 02, 2012, 11:05:24 am »
I came up with this idea one night unloading my ATV,so I thought I might share it.It's a simple idea,I used 2 2X4 - 4 3in-5/16 carrage bolts with nuts some #8 screws -2ft double sided carpet tape & a sport kayak rack from CTC.I didn't bolt them down the bolts only used as pins, once kayak is on & straped down the crossbars are solid.....I have used it a couple of time's and it works great...& it cost less then 60$ (rack was on sale $49.99)

Nice little DIY project...my only concern or comment is if you move to a larger sized yak (longer) that the tongue on the trailer hitch may not be long enough to keep it away from the tailgate or bumper of your car or truck... excellent stuff though.
Any day on the water is a good day
