kayaking with the buff - i said with!
« on: July 29, 2011, 01:34:01 am »
if it`s sunny out, or if the UV is too high, or if the bugs are bad, and even some times as an air filter, i wear a buff. i have had several skin cancers and don`t want to encourage anymore, so i bought a buff and wear it religiously.
these shots are from where i launched for the Hammond River Classic.

the buff on the bow of my kayak.

the buff, my bald head, a little beard sneaking out...and the beautiful hammond in the background

with a hat - hiding better from mr. sun...

and that`s the buff. get one, your skin will thank you for it! 8) 8) 8) 8) ;)

I like the idea of this.. i have been burned before as I am sure most of you have.. 2nd degree sun burn for doing something that I love.. didn't seem fair and trust me they have no sympathy at the hospitals for you...lol.. where can you get these from? I already use the long sleeved quick dry shirts because I can always roll the sleeves up or down but my face takes the brunt of what the sun has to offer.. I am not getting any younger and I need to be concerned about the odd shaped freckles appearing..

Those Buff's are awesome.  its on my list for things to get.
i presently use a Bandana if its really bad (one around my head, one around my face if needed), but a Buff would be much better.

Yeah I have done the bandana thing as well and I like the buff better because it would protect the back of my neck as well I would think... I always have to wear a shirt with a collar so I can flip it up when my neck gets warm.. Or I should get a hat with a flap on the back of it..lol

John, does the Buff lose its elasticity after a while, or are they pretty resilliant to a lot of use?

Hey ipop,

Nice to see someone else wearing one of these. Mine is the rainbow trout one and it looks like a psychedelic babushka ;D

The plus to me is that it isn't flapping around and you can always pull it down for a photo.

The only negatives have been that they can get a little hot themselves. You can always wet them down though.

@ouird
They seem to wear surprisingly well for such a light fabric and still has elasticity - so far so good anyway.
