Looks like a great time.   Having 2 young kids, and my wife being a teacher, makes it hard for me to get away while school is still in.    A couple weeks later and I may have been able to make it!    I wish everyone the best with this tournament!

Thanks for the mention Eagle Eye.
We did have a GREAT event and hope to duplicate it again this year. We already have 13 people signed up in January! It was a great friendly atmosphere and the support from the kayak fishing industry was top notch. I'm looking forward to June!

Rules?
Take pics. of bass on a ruler, keep track of 3 longest and whatever other species
you catch.
It's easy going.
Get informed at 7:30 am meeting.

Other factors to consider, get 1 day or yearly  PQ fishing license?
Day trip or drink beer after fishing and camp there ?

Will be an adventure. Just saw Outdoor Passion ..bowfin fishing there in hot July...trigger X minnows under a bobber...Jean Guy style.  :)

here's Chris's link for rules

Hi Folks,
Really happy to see that we will have some Ontario yakkers in the mix.
You can find the link to the rules on the tournament page of the website. Almost at the bottom there is a .gif of a fisheman landing a fish...click and enjoy!
It is a very laid back tournament and lots of fun for all. Really nice body of water also!
Regards,
Chris

Thïs just in... Jackson Kayaks and our local Montreal dealer Base Camp are providing a brand new Cuda 14 with a rudder as our grand participation prize. Rumour has it there might be some extra fancy rigging done to the vessel before all is said and done! Jackson and Base Camp have demonstrated that yet again they believe in supporting grass roots events designed to grown the sport! Thank you so much!

Looks like your doing a great job running the show here, great stuff!   I just googled and it looks like a 9 1/2 hour drive.    While I don't anticipate making the drive up, I'm not completely ruling it out either, especially if I get 1 or 2 others to come along and split costs.

Hey joe! I would be up for going and splitting the cost. I could bring my truck, we could rent a trailer with whoever else would go. Or whatever way works out best.

Good to know Noah, I'll get some feelers out.   I can handle three people with my Jeep/trailer.   I have a tent that would work for three which takes no room at all.. mostly fishing gear to make sure we have room for.. lol     If we get more than three we may end up with a convoy.

Assuming things work out I assume we would hit the road at dawn on the Friday, you'd be able to crash here Thursday night if thats the case.

Okay did a bit of reg. reading.
It's in zone 8 and bass opens Friday the day before tourney from what I could gather.
It looks like bass opened the 3rd Friday in June last year.

Haven't been there either, but guess some current, it's a river !
Meant to be some canals and back slack bays, being more large mouth territory.
So guess both largies and smallies. In Ontario most guys start with topwater
for a hawg, bit later start here, so will have to see what the particular day is like.  :)

I can't wait!this will be my 1st kayak fishing tournament.

its awesome to see Jackson Kayak & Camp de base supporting the event, The Jackson Cuda 14 is an amazing fishing machine(mine is desert camo color)

I tried to book camping at sleepy hollow, without success, it seems there is very limited space & they do not take reservations. there is another campground 10 mins away (camping Gregoire)

Hi, Glad you're coming! PM me and I'll set you up with some camping:-)
The tournament is being held in zone 8. Licenses are not available online in Quebec as far as I can see. However, any Canadian Tire and many gas stations will sell to you directly. They really are available in may areas and within minutes of the tournament location!
Have a good one,
Chris

No public launch. You can however put a kayak in directly under the bridge on rue Richelieu directly under the bridge. The bridge is part of the 202. If you want to put in at the Sleepy hollow campground itself the charge is $7.00. Coming up fast!

Will probably just launch from Sleepy Hollow fri. pm., wont take long
to cover water in the PA, might even make it to the border, 202 bridge and back .

Had been looking at going but am having to stand down.  This weekend my wife has claimed to work on report cards so I have the boys, and they would not be up for the journey, so I'll be taking them off camping/kayaking/fishing this weekend somewhere in NB.    Best of luck for all of you in and running the derby, I hope it is a great one!

So are you going Noah ? Am sure it will be easy to get tips on how to catch a largie.
Think I'm off at noon and will be up there around 4pm Friday.
See ya around Sleepy Hollow Eric ?  Getting closer ...

Did a bit of research on chain pickerel, think rare at that exact location, more at southern end of Champlain. However there are lakes that start with " Mogog " not too far that have them. Go after them sat. pm or sunday ? or there's also Lake Sturgeon another possibility... Sure am hoping to catch a Beaver ! There's also a mighty redhorse that resides there, the endangered Copper Redhorse.

Could not ask for better hosts than Chris and Scott, they put a good show on.
Thanks Scott, for allowing Eric and myself to camp on your yard the night before, enjoyed
the campfire talk and bear stories.

Always an adventure fishing new water and meeting other passionate kayak anglers.
Had a couple bowfin yup at a toad but no hook-up. Saw bigmouth Buffalo and there's some big smallies
in that water.

Boy, Jackson and Feelfree kayaks are ever popular in Quebec.

Here's a pic. of Eric on tourney water the night before.

That pike would have won the "Lunker" prize if he had caught it the next day.

Anyone else ?

You ought to cash in your beer bottles for gas money and get your butt down to Windsor, Brent. I know it's a long drive but the weather forecast so far is pretty much perfect and the beer at the Sportsman's Club is guaranteed to be ice cold.  ;D

Don , I'll be seeing you at OKFS Quinte July 9-10th.

It was a bit of a tough fish on the Richelieu tourney day, that's fishing especially when
hot and sunny. Some guy from Ontario was a bit greedy and took home most of the pot money.
Did see a very enlighten new Jackson Cuda kayak owner though.

Wish I had taken more pics. besides ones of fish on boards, as usual, maybe someone else will
post some.

The water is similar to LSC, clear, with a main deep river channel, and massive 5 fow flats.
Lots of guys were casting jerk baits, I tried that shadow rap lots to no avail, guess a bit early
for the stickbait bite. Caught a 14" smallie early on a spinnerbait, in an area with thicker and greener weeds. Then a bit deeper another 14" smallie, 24 1/2" pike and a 16 1/4" smallie all on a 3 1/2" tube.
There were lots of rock bass on man made structure. Eric got into some medium largies in a greener
shallow bay. Was a bit happy, have at least 3, but figured need to upgrade those 14s. Go near towards the 202 bridge and at about 1:00 pm catch a 17 1/2" smallie on a tube again, near where I caught
a 19 1/4" one the night before. Then spent the next 2 hours playing in the shallows for largies and doggies... no more fish. Thought at best may have a shot at third, knowing the bite was tough. Then headed in to the festivities.
