Title: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: EagleEyesFlash on May 25, 2015, 09:30:13 am
Great to see a bunch of Canadian teams inching up the Worldwide Freshwater Team
Standings. Gonna be a close one, still early, and bet homebrew is anxious for some support.  ;)

Yes there have been a few of us capitalizing on living close to the border and enjoying the open Bass Season in both NY and Michigan.  I am surprised that no one has gone to the Espanola area to try the newly opened Bass season.

I assume we are all going to act like adults this year when it comes to Kayak Wars discussions...
It got out of hand last year, and turned some folks away from talking about it on here. I wont have that again.

We really enjoy the New York early season bass fishing!  Lots of opportunity and less than 2 hours for us!  Locally I have only had one carp to post. (Not counting my rock bass from the weekend)

I have been going after the other species as well, only caught a few short fish and the odd oos.  Will keep trying though  :)

PS are you coming to the bcc?  We are planning to make 4 days of it

I respect your opinion that you like to fish in the Canadian Division but we compete in a North American Freshwater Point Distribution.  Some of us live on the border and  can enter US water from our home or it is easier for us to find inland lakes across the border than from here in Southwestern Ontario where the closest inland lake or river is 3 hours.

Calling the US anglers names is not showing good sportsmanship and makes the rest of us Canadians look like a bunch of whining babies.  As John said in an earlier post, we went through this BS last year, why does it need to be re-hashed.  Those are the kind of posts that have members leaving this forum and the traffic declines always right after.

If you haven't anything positive to say keep your comments to yourself.

I'm with Pikecreek and Flyfisher. It's just fishing guys. International borders, points, My measuring board is bigger than your measuring board.... In the end we're all having some fun catching fish and using Kayakwars as a means of showing off a little. Keep it fun, show some respect for the rest of the guys around you that are also having a little fun, and in the end we'll all have a better time doing it.

Now let's see what we can do to catch those Border guys Flash... I've got the Hobie on the roof of the car now, just got to put some hours in making a living first and then I'll be on the water :)

Heres the thing. If its within the rules of the event then its fair game.
If "you" have an issue with something, and you think its underhanded or cheating, then you post it on the Kayak Wars system.
The discussion on here is very welcomed, and encouraged, but singling people out for playing within the rules/parameters of the event will not be tolerated.  Im going to be pruning this thread to remove the crap comments, and that will be the end of that.  I see more of the crap comments, and that person gets removed from the forum, no negotiation.

Not sure if I was misunderstood or my comment truly is unwelcome.
I was simply trying to state that the Canadian division if full of good guys following the rules
Much discussion on the KW forum page about bad submissions In some of the division divisions.

And that I was finding it hard to figure out a way to make gold man points in my area...

Just trying to keep the discussion as Vanilla as possible on here.

IPops moved apartments for the first time in 20-something years.   He's living out in Rothsay now, just a few km from me.   Unfortunatley he hasn't gotten internet yet in his new place, and am not sure when he will get it.   He popped over to my place the other night and uploaded his fish to KW.

This weekend IPop and I are off to Long Lake in Northern NB to chase Land Locks, Lake Trout and rainbows.   If we cant' catch at least something there, we may as well give up!  lol

Think most of Ontario had thunderstorms and high winds this weekend.  ;)

Noticed both shooter and kayak Curtis are on the top 40
Career Total inches list. Only Shooter, the sole Canadian on
the top 40 Career points list.
Good going you two.

By years end, think there will be 4 Canadians on those two top 40 Career lists.
That's if one guy remembers to have the right time and date set on his camera.  ;)

Anyone else not able to see monthly species totals for Canadian teams? I sent an email to Oz a while back but no reply. Sure going to be a pain not knowing how many a guy can submit.

I have been slacking lately, should have filled the pike quota last weekend but decided to go get skunked on the river instead... I have to get a few more species and personal bests out of the way then I can focus on racking up some points.

I see it here, on the top click info then point distribution,  if it doesn't work for you, you could try a different browser, internet explorer works for me

I think Ravyak is referring to the monthly totals for fish submitted already for each team during the current month. Used to be a tally on the team page so you could see how many open spots were left for each species for the month but that has disappeared.
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: Ravyak on June 02, 2015, 08:40:36 am
Yes Transplant that is what I am referring to. It still works for US teams but not for Canadians ones for some reason. For example.

http://www.kayakwars.com/teampage.php?team_idvar=676&team=Inglorious%20Bassturds (http://www.kayakwars.com/teampage.php?team_idvar=676&team=Inglorious%20Bassturds)

The monthly tallies don't show up for all teams, something about species / programming.

My main concern is all the duplicate entries, seems very rampant this year.
Also then there's the misidentified species...

How's that "Submission Correction " working ?

It would probably be easier if kw was programmed so an angler could just delete his/her
entry and  then re enter it correctly. But have no idea of the programming logistics.

Good show Canadians .  :)

up for June.

I put in for a duplicate entry almost a month ago and it's still there.
Not working to good lol
Programing it would not be that hard inorder to make it deleteable by user however would have to increase the security of the site.
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: EagleEyesFlash on June 02, 2015, 03:33:08 pm
There was just a duplicate entry, then a triplet and then septet ... however you say 7 times ...  :o
Well at least it wasn't 50 times like someone did earlier. Think they are out now.
The site seems slower, I get time outs uploading at times, takes patience.
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: Kayak Curtis on June 02, 2015, 03:52:38 pm
A ton of duplicates from guys hitting upload more than once when it's taking to long. My team will eventually catch enough species to have that monthly total problem, but for now it's not a issue.

Wow up n down lol. Plenty of action out there, great. A change of pace. My persona rise to get to top of goldman points is off to better start than last year . 7th and on the move my goal. Dan also moving up, Brent get them species buddy again and move up the rankings. Some nice fish put up on the site. Fish away.

Wow action happening. The goldman points keep climbing me to the top .3rd place and rising, and i also see my buddy Danno making a run up the board also on goldman. Brent get those points going, bass in season now. And Curtis using the fish he has at his disposable to pass me today. Great job. Bass season opens for us this weekend and expect to see me get to 2nd place . Still awaiting on last years loot lol

Yes sir, bite has been hot here.reaping the rewards of 2am wakeups(seriously)Walleye last weekend and a morning of pike fishing. Can't complain when your getting a fish every cast or 2. Let's just say I'm waiting to see what the rest of the team gets before I upload anymore,,, ;)

Yes Canadians are doing well.
Cdn teams should be able to move up in the team standings as fishing slows
in the hot southern states and with great lakes salmon moving more off shore.
Rock n Roll, got to show where the best freshwater fishing is in the world.  :)
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: Ravyak on June 22, 2015, 11:02:09 pm
2 Canadian teams in top 10 so far, top 5 should be possible if you expect them to slow down. I was also surprised to see Curtis and I are in the top 20 for total inches so far this season. Shooter of course kicking butt in the gold man points, wish I could target them more but it is a royal pita out here having to fish multiple lakes to get a slam...

I know others have commented on incorrect/duplicate entries not being fixed. Has anyone tried using the new reporting/correction system? http://www.kayakwars.com/reporting.php (http://www.kayakwars.com/reporting.php)
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: Kayak Curtis on June 22, 2015, 11:09:10 pm
I've been waiting several weeks for a couple duplicate pike to be removed using the new system. It still seems to take some time even for your own submissions.

And yes fishing several lakes in a day for a slam sucks. A guy only wants to load and unload so many times...
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: Ravyak on June 22, 2015, 11:55:52 pm
You just have to figure out how to catch whitefish or perch at Ste Anne and then you would be golden(pun intended) lol.

I don't expect to keep my pace up, stars aligned this month to rack up some points so I put in the hours and racked up the points. New species, personal bests and winning my AO derby are still my main priorities this year but I am hoping to see Nouveau Norsemen on top at the end of the season ;).
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: shooter on June 23, 2015, 06:29:14 am
Yep that system of changing of submissions doesn't seem to be working at all. Alot of different guys catching some nice fish out there. Need everybody to participate to make it better also. That stats will be up n down all season. Species changes and in season fish. Goldman kingpin my goal, to knock the top Turtle64 off lol Its weird to see hardly any European teams involved also

Me i'm up to number 2 but not for long , will pass the Turtle at the top shortly.

Well, hope you do it by catching a carp.  ;)

Think I'll try a fly rod outing for carp, woolly buggers, it would be nice to find some
tailing and would be more fun than passive fishing.
I see Lusca has slowed, looks like he got carp on a fly. Something new to try.

Fish-on dude. You are doing well.  :)
Title: Re: Close KW team race so far.
Post by: shooter on July 03, 2015, 09:37:20 pm
Yeah i see that Lusca out for some reason and almost a month of no activity. And as of now in a tie for first. Now to see if this Canuck can hang on to it. Way harder to combine fish species stats. Brent get them carp to bite.

2 Canadian teams in the top 10,  5 in the top 20 at the moment, very good showing.

Really hoping this is not the last year for KW my next son is ready to join the team for 2016! If it were just for the thousands of participants that come back each year and compete for the sake of competing and having fun, not worrying about their prizes, I would guess that kayak wars will be back next year and the year after.  But then there are the haters that are constantly criticizing about not receiving their $20 prizes or getting a special call out on their accomplishments.  There constant negative posts and complaining will wear the organizers down and Kayak Wars will die a slow death thanks to just a few people.
